VELA GAMES IS LOOKING FOR A VISIONARY ART DIRECTOR TO BUILD/LEAD OUR ART DEPARTMENT AND TO HELP SHAPE THE ARTISTIC VISION OF OUR NEW GAME.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the core foundation of Vela Games; someone who is passionate about being part of an early tight-knit team laser-focused on creating innovative game experiences, and a company, from the ground up. The Art Director will work very closely with the creative team to establish the game’s visual tone, and define its world and characters. This person will be able to clearly communicate their artistic vision to the team, and realize it by leading teams across all art disciplines. They are a collaborative leader who understands how to align the artistic vision with the project’s goals and ambitions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish and maintain the artistic vision for a brand new, original multiplayer game for a global audience of players
• Partner with design, insights, engineering, and production teams to create a unique product vision
• Provide direct contributions to the art visualization with handmade examples
• Establish best practices and an art pipeline to integrate in-studio work with outsourcing as needed
• Help hire and develop a small but world class art-team in house

• 5+ years of art direction experience in the games industry on “AAA quality” titles
• Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with creative & technical team members
• Self-driven / growth mindset: Ability to collaborate, but also take the lead and work independently as required
• Start-up orientation: Strong design focus, able to set high-level goals but still willing to get hands dirty when needed
• Deep passion for multiplayer games and player experience
