Community Manager

full-time Plug London

The PLUG Community Manager is responsible for building and maintaining the PLUG communities both online and in person. You will do that by sharing relevant and engaging content on appropriate channels, responding to queries and comments and organising and attending relevant events. Your work will build a community of PLUG ambassadors to support user retention, business development, and increase brand recognition and sentiment.

Key tasks:

Manage PLUG’s online community engagement channels

  • Initiate, monitor and actively participate in PLUG community channel discussions on Telegram, Reddit, Facebook and Twitter
  • Develop and share engaging content to support marketing and communications strategies
  • Tailor communications delivery to suit each channel’s requirements
  • Coordinate internal contributors to ensure we have regular, interesting content to share
  • Identify content marketing opportunities to increase the visibility of PLUG as an enabling technology

Grow PLUG’s online communities

  • Execute targeted and effective campaigns to increase participation in PLUG’s online communities
  • Measure the effectiveness of campaigns through digital analytics and track the performance and expansion of the local NZ and global community and apply lessons learned
  • Deliver campaigns on time and on budget

Issues management

  • Address any issues appropriately and professionally
  • Understand when to elevate issues as they arise
  • Keep the wider PLUG team informed on specific community issues

Event management

  • Research, coordinate and attend local and global blockchain events to raise the profile of the PLUG brand and proposition
  • Identify and coordinate local events (such as meetups and hackathons) that grow our developer community and increase the visibility of our tools, products and services

  • Fellow PLUG Community Managers : Ensure strong lines of communication exist to clearly communicate upcoming campaigns and promotions
  • Product delivery and development teams: To keep up to date with product development initiatives and timings and gain content
  • PLUG Marketing Manager: To ensure activity aligns with the PLUG marketing strategy
  • PLUG Management Team


  • Qadre and Centrality marketing teams: To ensure campaigns and messaging are complimentary
  • Marketing Manager StateZero: Ensure all communications between the two parties are aligned and on brand
  • Specialist contractors
  • CTIA: Ensure all CTIA communications are on brand and message

What skills and experience you will need

  • 3-5 years’ marketing communications experience, preferably some of which is within the tech sector
  • Experience in channel management monitoring
  • Experience with Google Analytics, social media platforms such as Telegram, Slack, Reddit and Github
  • Experience in both brand awareness and category building activities
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong relationship building and networking skills
  • Multi tasker
  • Can link operational communications to a strategic picture
  • Excellent communicator
  • An ability to liaise with people across all levels of the organisation
  • Innovative
  • Ability to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice

What skills would be a bonus

  • Experience working in an international markets
  • Fluent in a second language
  • Experience working with emerging industries, blockchain technology or decentralised systems
