We are looking for a backend developer to help us build the best realtime logistic platform for our customers, controllers and couriers. This includes improving and scaling our core allocation system, using machine learning to optimise the allocation of jobs to couriers. Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop the micro-services powering our platform and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of our infrastructure. A commitment to collaborative problem solving and product quality is essential.

Working with the largest sameday courier in the world allows us to see our platform used at scale and the volume of jobs provides the opportunity for new optimisations to best match the demand from customers to the supply of couriers, all in realtime as new orders come in.

We have a requirement for developer to work with our Front End Web team and to provide the backend micro-services that they rely on. If you have experience in Go but are interested in becoming a full-stack developer, there is the opportunity to learn some cutting-edge React as well.

You will be able to develop deep knowledge and expertise in a particular micro-service as well as developing a broad knowledge of the industry and the challenges of matching realtime supply and demand at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Web Team by providing backend services and APIs needed for the new websites
• Provide orchestration where needed to transform backend data so websites can use it easily
• Work within an Agile team to translate user stories and use cases into functional code
• Develop expertise and knowledge in one or more micro-services
• You help maintain code quality and push for automation

* Good understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and large scale Micro Services

* Experience in Golang

* Understanding of what it takes to build highly available, horizontally scalable distributed systems

* Good knowledge of HTTP, Caching and RESTful API design

* Experience of automated testing and dedication to building quality code

* Experience with Schemaless/NoSQL databases such as Dynamo, Cassandra or CouchDB

* Amazon Web Services experience a bonus

* Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
