Junior IT Support Engineer

BenevolentAI harnesses artificial intelligence to enhance and accelerate scientific discovery by making sense of highly fragmented information to create new insights and usable knowledge that benefit society.

The Role

We are seeking an ‘IT all-rounder’ with a keen interest in all aspects of IT. This is a very hands-on and varied role allowing the candidate to develop their knowledge and experience whilst working on a range of different projects within our rapidly growing start-up environment adopting a wide range of technologies.

  • IT Support for Mac OS X, Windows, printers and software
  • Strong Windows Enterprise administration will be advantageous
  • Basic Linux System Administration tasks
  • Monitoring and maintaining security applications including machine management, automated backup and anti-virus systems
  • Administration of in-house telephone systems and mobile phones
  • Participating in planned projects to upgrade and replace systems and services
  • Install, upgrade and maintain conference systems
  • Maintain a formal backup and disaster recovery strategy including regular testing.

Our mission is to increase the efficiency and success of the R&D process. Society has created huge quantities of complex information and data but the ability to use this to create knowledge for drug discovery and development is still at its infancy. However, the tools and technologies to explore this data are rapidly developing and Benevolent.AI’s aim is to use deep judgement and applied AI combined with pharmaceutical expertise to accelerate the process by which new medicines are discovered and developed.


  • A good understanding of OS X & Windows, including hardware and software.
  • Experience with supporting MS Office, anti-virus, backup and firewall software.
  • An understanding of networking principles including ADSL, switches, Wifi and VPNs.
  • An understanding of Linux would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Confluence, Atlassian, Jira would be useful.
  • Use of conferencing technologies useful, such as HighFive.
  • There will be the opportunity to be involved with all parts of the business and a flexible approach will be necessary.
