Lead Frontend Engineer

full-time Charlotte Tilbury London

About:

Charlotte Tilbury is, empirically, the fastest growing multi-axis beauty brand of all time. Between 2014 and 2017, our Head Office headcount saw a 400% increase, whilst opening stores and counters in seven new global markets and launching award-winning product ranges. Highly disruptive and ambitious, we are looking to revolutionise the cosmetics industry. In 2017, we created a World first VR experience in conjunction with Happy Finish for our fragrance launch and later partnered with Holition AR to develop the world’s first interactive touchscreen using advanced real-time tracking and realistic visualisation - Charlotte’s ‘Magic Mirror’ went on to win Retail Week Tech Awards 2017 In-store CX Initiative of the Year.

Having had substantial investment from Sequoia Capital, we are building a world-class technology team consisting of alumni from some of the largest global tech companies (Cisco, HP, Google, IBM), the world’s largest retail companies (Tesco and Macy’s) and high-growth internet scale-ups such as Kayak, The Hut Group and CompareTheMarket. As a business, we are fast-paced, exciting and growing rapidly and we make no apology for the fact that many ‘standard’ processes are not (yet) in place. If you thrive on getting cut-through whatever the circumstances, working with hugely talented people to deliver a global mission and being an agent of change with great autonomy, then we would love to hear from you.

Scope:

In just the next 2 years we will:

‐ ‐ Re-build our entire ecommerce tech stack, business systems and our analytical capabilities

‐ Build out our own store network in the UK, USA and Europe

‐ Deliver on the massive potential of our Magic Mirror and deploy AR/VR technology online and in-store.

- Digitally enable our front-line sales teams in an entirely unique way through in-store technology initiatives

‐ Create the platform for a world class digital marketing, retention and advocacy operation

This is an opportunity to be part of a transformational journey for a rapidly scaling business with technology as one of our most significant growth levers.

Culture:

Not only do we have the autonomy and opportunity to build fantastic products from scratch, we also have the freedom to create and influence our Tech culture. We aim to hire people who are compatible with our core values and strongly acknowledge that this is a subtle process that requires ongoing attention as the team grows and matures. We are committed to:

  • Technical autonomy

We firmly believe that the Tech team should have a choice in the tools that enable to them to solve problems most efficiently. We want to encourage the exploration of new technologies to excite our team with new challenges that will have a meaningful impact on their work.

  • Collaboration

Greenfield projects are notoriously difficult – much of the time you’re building something brand new and pioneering a cutting-edge approach. It’s rarely a straightforward path and we truly value the power of individual knowledge and insight. By ensuring that every team member has a voice and ownership, we will assemble a team of smart and committed people who drive better technical decisions in an open forum.

  • Trust & Transparency

We believe that culture thrives when everyone feels heard and valued. We want to maintain open two-way channels of communication and feedback where we can celebrate constructive peer critique and to encourage an environment where people actively ask questions instead of simply accepting decisions.

  • Purpose & Perspective

We aim to create a mutual understanding of purpose and perspective – everyone should feel empowered in their individual roles and have a sound understanding of what we are here to do as a team, department and business. A clear and compelling strategy is essential.

  • Development

We want our team to feel excited to come to work, satisfied when they head home and to take great pride in being a part of this journey from start to finish. We’re all about learning and development, so there are great opportunities to progress your career and expand your knowledge, whether that’s through utilising our internal tools or attending and leading conferences, hackathons and lunch & learns.
