We are on the lookout for a Healthcare .NET (C#) Developer to enhance our great team of developers.

You will be a leading member of the team designing and building new integration capabilities for our product. This could be passing back clinical correspondence to an EPR, talking to NHS Digital about using NHS Login or developing a FHIR interface for third parties to access our data.

You should be comfortable with the healthtech landscape, understand the future direction of development for the industry and be able to represent DrDoctor at meetups, design workshops and supplier events.

We have fast and frequent deployments, good test coverage and a young codebase. You will have a direct effect on what we do and how we do it. This role is ideal for candidates with a desire to learn and accelerate their careers. We can give you exposure to every facet of enterprise SaaS software and as much responsibility as you are ready to handle.

DrDoctor is a fast-growing digital health company founded in 2012. Our technology improves appointment scheduling, increases clinic efficiency by reducing no-shows and fills empty slots. We save the NHS millions of pounds each year and are currently deployed across 22 major hospitals around the UK including Guy’s and St Thomas’ & Great Ormond Street. With over 7 million patients active on the platform already, we’re on a journey to deliver the tools to radically transform the delivery of health services to make healthcare work for everyone – for patients, doctors, administrative teams and tax payers.

But meet Jo

I’m Joe, I work in the marketing team and I have been here for just over a year. I love the idea that my work is contributing towards the improvement of the NHS. To me it’s also the ultimate challenge. How can you take a complex and interconnected web of systems and help them to operate more efficiently? A great question to have at the back of your mind. To succeed at DrDoctor, you need a degree of aptitude, but bags of drive and a willingness to learn both within and beyond your role. We’re a close-knit bunch who all socialise regularly with each other, and our work is fundamentally collaborative, so you must be comfortable working in groups.

OK, I’m interested. What experience do I need to have?

You should have experience with integrating different healthcare systems using appropriate standards. Ideally you will have done work at a regional level and with nationally provided services.

You will need good experience of C# and SQL and some experience of two interesting technologies. Things that get us excited include distributed systems, CI & automated deployment, BDD, message busses, and API integrations.

Our technology stack is primarily Microsoft with a sprinkling of interesting C# open source components. We’re always trying new frameworks and technologies so if you have ideas on how to improve things then that is what we want to know. We are looking for someone who loves technology and has the drive to push, challenge and grow the company. You’ll need to be as ambitious as we are and revel in the flexible nature and mix of skills required for startup work. We’re primarily office based but supportive of flexible and remote working so days at home or nursery runs are not a problem.

Specific experience requirements:

• C# .NET development (4+ years)
• HL7 (ADT, SIU, CDA) (3+ years)
• FHIR

• SQL (solid working knowledge, OK not to be DBA level)

Bonus points for:

• GitHub profile, blog posts, other online repos
• Azure or AWS PaaS experience
• Automated testing (one or more of: Unit Testing, Spec Testing, TDD, BDD etc.)

• Software development practices (SOLID, design patterns)
• Agile methodologies (Scrum, pair programming)
• Interest in message queues and busses, distributed systems and loosely coupled architecture
• NoSQL

Also Required:

• A desire to learn and grow your skills
• Can explain your point in sprint planning when everyone is looking at you oddly
• Happy to work from a pub on a Friday afternoon
