Security in Banking has come a long way. Most historians agree the first bank robbery in the United States occurred when associates of Jesse and Frank James robbed the Clay County Savings Association in Missouri in 1866. By the 1900’s robberies started to include getaway cars and by the 1920’s alarms were being installed. By the 1950’s Banks had started using camera’s as a deterrent.
The internet has revolutionised Banking and consequently heralded a new era in crime. Cybercrime. In 1988 Robert Morris wrote a small program to see how big the internet was, known as the first denial-of-service-attack this innocent worm triggered an internet meltdown and highlighted the need for better security in computers.
The main threat to Banks was shifting from physical to digital. In 1994 Vladimir Levin reinforced this by taking 10 million dollars from Citibank via their computer and phone system.
Suffice to say building a contemporary bank requires very security conscious digital savvy people with a desire to become part of what is set to be quite a historic time in the evolution of modern banking.
That’s where we come in, LQID is a brand-new bank, yes, a bank, not an app or a faceless cash machine, but a real bank, which will have a real presence on the high street combining digital and human touch points and interactions.
