Senior Product Engineer

full-time Glofox Dublin

We are looking to add a Senior Product Engineer to join our highly motivated team with a fantastic product crafted with a cutting edge tech stack, and a huge opportunity to realise. We do things differently here, by getting our engineers working closely with Product Managers, Business and Marketing, right from ideation stage, so as a member of the team youll be around to ask the awkward questions and try the scenarios that product managers or business functions dont dream up.

If you’re looking to join a scaling startup and you’re willing to work hard to solve some complex problems for a very large market, then we are looking for you.

What Will I Be Doing?:

  • Collaborate with a team of designers, developers, product owners, and work towards transforming ideas into unique, human experiences for current and future fitness entrepreneurs
  • Develop technical plans and contribute to our technical architecture as we scale our products globally
  • Write code in PHP/GoLang/Node/Angular, which knits together a lot of AWS, infrastructure, platform and SaaS technologies that form the core of Glofoxs infrastructure
  • Bringing up-to-date expertise in web technologies to the team and applying this to the development, execution, and improvement of our products.
  • Design core component architecture and conduct design and code reviews
  • Grow engineering capacity by mentoring other engineers and interviewing candidates. This is a chance to be an integral part of building and growing a team.
  • Code! We don’t subscribe to the “post-technical” ivory tower leadership style. An advocate for clean code and engineering practices.
  • Contribute to our culture of shipping faster and being nimble to ever changing priorities
  • 7+ years of industry experience in a software engineering role, preferably building a SaaS product where you can demonstrate significant impact that your work has had on the product and/or the team.
  • Extensive hands-on development and delivery experience with a broad mix of languages and technologies
  • Great Object Oriented coding practices, including strong design patterns knowledge, Refactoring, Clean Code, Domain Driven Design, Encapsulation etc and enterprise integration
  • Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods and leading software development teams in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment
  • Strong PHP 5.6/7 experience is required, plus commercial experience on Node/Angular/Golang
  • Demonstrated experience in testing frameworks; PHPUnit, Mockery, JUnit, Cucumber… (and testing practices: TDD, BDD)
  • Secure programming - knowledge of common threats and how to recognise and avoid writing exploitable code
  • Experience collaborating directly with product teams and designers, and a proven track record of delivering value to customers or users.
  • Experience in building and supporting high volume Progressive Web Applications
  • Thorough understanding of techniques to have browser compatibility, backwards and forwards.
  • Strong understanding and experience with Infrastructure performance and optimization techniques.
  • Desire to contribute to the wider technical community through collaboration, coaching, and mentoring of other technologists

And we’d be super impressed if you have:

  • Experience with front end frameworks like Angular
  • Startup mentality with enterprise awareness. That means you can manage competing priorities, that you’re ready to pivot or adjust plans quickly, and that you understand the role you and your team play in major organizations’ tech strategies.
  • Experience of infrastructure as code with tools like terraform or cloudformation
  • Thorough understanding of techniques to have browser compatibility, backwards and forwards.
  • Experience contributing to the professional community as a speaker, author or online contributor
  • Community Involvement with open source contributions
  • The chance to work at a fast-growing startup in an attractive space
  • The opportunity to help fitness entrepreneurs improve the health of people worldwide
  • Autonomy to make what you will; a team, a product or even just a way of doing things
  • An entrepreneurial working environment. If you can make a case for a project that fits with our vision, you’ll likely be able to execute it
  • Macbooks are our standard, but we’re happy to get you whatever equipment helps you get your job done
  • Taxsaver tickets and BikeToWork scheme
  • Support to help you level up your skills - conferences, books, screencasts
  • We embrace flexible, remote work and have a distributed team across multiple countries
