Job Description:

Reporting to the Lead Solutions Engineer, you will work with other members of the Solutions, Development and Security teams and be involved in the entire life-cycle of delivering Coinfloor’s technology requirements. Experience supporting and developing highly transactional websites running 24x7 is essential.

 

Responsibilities and requirements:

The role encompases all aspects of the technology lifecycle.

  • To support and ensure the availability of the Coinfloor trading platform and supporting infrastructure and environments.
  • To perform and manage the release process of builds to QA and Production environments and automate release builds and workflow.
  • To respond to incidents and problems as they arise as well as providing support and troubleshooting for production and development systems.
  • Participate in architectural design and system refactoring to improve resiliency and performance.
  • Define disaster recovery procedures and business continuity processes.
  • Plan for future capacity and proactive monitoring of systems performance with ownership of these tools.
  • Continuously improve the team, tools and processes, support regular agile releases of applications and architectural improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of our continuous improvement process and DevOps culture.
  • Work with other teams across the business to develop the platform and technologies, striving to automate whenever possible.
  • Create and maintain documentation of business processes and systems.
  • The role includes participating in a team rota to provide out-of-hours support.

The successful candidate will be able to relate to the statements above and give examples that back them up. We believe this role is best suited to an Engineer with between 5-7 years of relevant experience.

The Cryptocurrency space is both exciting and fast moving so you will need to work to keep abreast of the latest developments in the space and ensure that Coinfloor’s platform is able to meet the challenges this environment offers.

Key skills and experience:

  • Strong Linux System Administration experience (Redhat/Centos essential) along with troubleshooting at operating system and network layers. Security experience is essential.
  • Cloud hosting technologies (AWS essential)
  • DevOps mentality demonstrating strong configuration management and automation skills.
  • Firm believer in, and experience with, testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB desirable)
  • Experience hosting, maintaining and troubleshooting Java, C++, Ruby and Rails applications.
  • Experience working with CDNs and web application firewalls.
  • Ability to deploy and configure monitoring and alerting systems and record incidents.
  • Ability to deploy and configure status dashboards and visualisation systems.
  • Administration and management of backup systems and awareness of DR processes.
  • Management and application of operating system and security patches.
  • A strong analytical background, ability to think practically and proactively propose solutions.
  • Strong believer in best practice as an eventual goal but able to make pragmatic shorter term decisions to achieve business goals.
  • Detail oriented with high awareness of system specifics and great visual memory.
  • Ability to drive projects forward, proactive and motivated to succeed.

 

In addition to the requirements above we are looking for a candidate who posses the following:

  • Strong background and work experience in the Finance, Algorithmic Trading, Financial Computing, Fintech or Cryptocurrency space preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Open to direction and a collaborative work style.
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization and influence the technical direction.
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment and able to make decisions without having complete information.
  • An interest in learning more about Cryptocurrency is essential.

Compensation: £TBC PA commensurate with experience.
