Web Summit is a global technology conference company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. We run a series of international gatherings across the world. Our flagship event is Web Summit, held in Lisbon, Portugal. In the last seven years, Web Summit has grown from a small team to a company of over 200 focused on disrupting the conference industry through technology and data science. In 2018, over 100,000 startups, investors, speakers and other attendees will gather at Web Summit events, including MoneyConf in Ireland, Collision in the US and RISE in Hong Kong.


We are recruiting for a new position that will generate and oversee contra deals with other companies (a contra deal is a barter arrangement between two parties who exchange goods or services without any cash changing hands).

This position will report to the Head of Customer Success and will work with many internal stakeholders such as Marketing, Engineering, L&D, etc to identify, explore and foster strategic partnerships through contra deals

You will work to develop contra deals for three distinct areas of the business:

  • Attendee experience
  • Employee experience
  • Business solutions for Web Summit

What you’ll achieve at Web Summit:

  • You will work with key internal stakeholders to identify products and services for contra deals with other companies.
  • You will actively select, identify and foster relationships with the world’s leading companies in order to make contra deals with them for our events.
  • You will partner with senior leaders covering a wide range of sectors, industries and geographies.
  • You will seek opportunities to add value to the strategy of the company.
  • You will manage processes, work towards a target and establish best practices.
Who you are:
  • You have 4 years of business development or strategy experience.
  • You are passionate about technology and business.
  • You’re a natural self starter who works independently with ease but you also work well in a team setting.
  • You have a strong aptitude for business development / creating deals. You love managing your own business portfolio and identifying new opportunities.
  • You aim to quickly develop rapport, understand stakeholder needs and identify business solutions.
  • You’re naturally persuasive and can influence with little effort. You love coming up with creative ideas are capable of delivering exceptional pitches.
  • You are a natural relationship builder and love networking with existing clients and developing new ones.
  • You take pride in what you do and you go above and beyond in delivering an exceptional experience to the people you deal with.
Skills and abilities we’re looking for:
  • Proven success in business acquisition/strategy development across multiple markets.
  • Proven success in identifying and executing deals with target companies.
  • Exceptional problem solving, planning, time-management and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand the long-term “big picture” and short-term perspectives of situations.
