At Centrifuge, we are creating the operating system for the global financial supply chain. We are designing and building the infrastructure on how businesses will interact with each other in a transparent, decentralized manner. The core protocol is built on Ethereum while also leveraging a peer-to-peer network for privacy and scalability.

To achieve this ambitious goal, we need your help. We are looking for a Token Design Researcher to join our growing Berlin office. Your role will require rigorous academic research and development, focusing on token design, engineering, and economics. Your contributions will help us further our culture of driving innovation, shipping excellent code and building the future of supply chain finance.


  • Survey existing techniques used to model complex (crypto-)economic systems
  • Evaluate these modeling techniques regarding their sensitivity to initial and boundary conditions and their ability to accurately predict outcomes
  • Develop a framework for simulating network behavior based upon local incentives
  • Based on your analysis and in alignment with Centrifuge’s goals, iterate on and contribute to the next level of our token design, incentive structures, and any other crypto-economic aspects of our product development


  • Experience modeling complex systems and interactions and working on academic research
  • Exposure to the crypto/blockchain space, ideally for at least 12 months
  • Familiarity with key crypto projects and their strengths and weaknesses
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with lots of outspoken, opinionated colleagues
  • You’re a team player and want to work in a smart, culturally diverse, and open minded environment
  • Familiar with macroeconomics, game theory, fiscal regulations and systems
  • Experience with design thinking or structured engineering as problem solving frameworks

Bonus Points

  • Postdoctoral researcher, PhD or PhD candidate in the field of Economics, Political Science, Mathematics or Engineering
  • Experience presenting complex technical concepts at academic or industry conferences
  • Experience analyzing large-scale data models
  • Experience in programming
  • Experience in the field of game theory, mechanism design, agent-based computational economics, social simulation, AI or Big Data
  • History of publications to peer reviewed journals
