Hey, we’re Bud.

We’re hiring a User Researcher.

Bud is an award-winning tech startup in a phase of rapid growth. Our app platform gives people better control of their money. Powered by machine learning and AI technology, crafted with intelligence and passion in an human-centric startup culture.

We need you to help us define, plan and conduct user research. Your role will be to help deliver compelling insights to our teams. Youll contribute to the growth of our evidence-based product and work with the product team to provide rationale for design decisions.

User research is an area we are looking to expand at Bud as it as a fundamental part of our product design process. You’ll be working with our Senior UX designer to help identify the best processes and methodologies for conducting user research, alongside supporting product teams with usability testing. In addition you will be helping to plan wider research projects and discovery phases which are integral to the direction of the wider product and business.

Experience we’re seeking.

  • Experience as a User Researcher or a UX designer who is particularly passionate about research
  • Broad experience of qualitative research methods
  • Previous experience from a product company or product development agency
  • Comfortable planning, scoping, conducting, analysing and communicating research
  • Familiar with quantitative research methods, comfortable with metrics and A/B tests, and are able to synthesise quantitative data with qualitative user research
  • Excellent communicator for sharing ideas & knowledge with colleagues
  • A natural problem solver; thriving in continuous new challenges & innovation


What you’ll be doing.

First three months...

  • Immerse yourself in the finance industry and the fintech marketplace
  • Meet our customers and understand the research we’ve done so far
  • Get started straight away thinking about how to improve our research methods
  • Help to create scripts for user testing and help conduct usability testing
  • Work with Senior UX designer and product managers to identify what to our discovery phases will look like and what we want to learn

Within six months...

  • Contribute to defining the user research roadmap
  • Pair with the UX and product designers to synthesise research and grow our user understanding
  • Establish ways for the product teams to regularly interact with customers and get fast feedback
  • Help plan workshops to bring people together and build shared understanding
  • Involve everyone in a culture of collaborative research, design, and testing
  • Holidays

    You’ll be entitled to the standard holidays + all bank holidays + office closed between Christmas & New Years Eve

    Package
    The salary package includes a contributory pension to match up to 5% of the salary, and Bud will also pay for a Gym membership for the local gym.

    Equipment

    You’ll be given a budget for a brand new MacBook (or similar), and/or computer accessories so you’ll have the best tools for the job.

    Hours & flexibility

    Standard hours are 9:30 am to 6 pm, however as part of our high-performance team, youll benefit from the flexibility to manage your own day to optimise the way you work to be at your best.

    Social

    We’re big on keeping Bud a social team, so Christmas and Summer parties can be a big deal. We’ll also organise sports events, music gigs and after-work meet-ups.

    Office

    Bud’s new office is a newly renovated space, specifically designed to our needs. Cool interior, breakout spaces, professional meeting rooms, brand new kitchen and a shower room for our part-time athletes.
