- Right from the start, you take full ownership and responsibility as the leader of MODIFI’s Legal & Compliance Team
- Hands-on build and manage the Legal & Compliance Team so that core processes will be established quickly and run smoothly
- Be the trusted advisor to the Founders and other senior management from day-to-day operations to strategic decisions
- As legal business partners you and your team make an impact across product development and strategy, governance, compliance matters, capital raises, and more
- Partner with the design, business, and engineering teams to creatively push the boundaries
- Lead MODIFI’s applications for regulatory licenses and maintain trustful relationships with regulators
- You are willing to assume roles such as Data Protection Officer
- Help recruit, retain, develop and lead a world-class team within a performance and people driven culture
- Be part of MODIFI’s Senior Management and shape the future of Digital Trade Finance
- You are an experienced lawyer with more than 4 years of practicing law and compliance at an international law firm or as an inhouse counsel at a bank or a (FinTech) start-up in Europe (preferably Germany or UK), or the US. You were among the top 20 percent of the graduates (university, state examination or bar exam)
- You have expertise in financial products and contracts (ideally, b2b lending, factoring and trade finance), financial regulation, anti-money laundry, data protection and/or corporate law. As a quick learner you are able to build up expertise in fields new to you
- On top of being a legal expert, you are a strong operator and communicator to effectively manage our customers, your team, non-legal staff, external legal counsel and other stakeholders such as regulators or investors
- You have a strong business sense combined with good commercial judgement in a wide range of tasks from executing MODIFI’s geographical expansion to developing and monitoring our products
- You are comfortable taking decisions with imperfect information in a fast-paced business environment
- You are confident to work in English. Knowledge of German is a plus
